There are things God will begin to do in you that people will notice before they understand. Majority of my walk with Jesus has been filled with people spectating and doubting that I was hearing God correctly…because as I would keep in step with God’s spirit, it wouldn’t always make logical sense to those who needed concreate evidence to why I would do what I would do. I had to really learn to not waver what I heard God say or how I felt Holy Spirit lead me even if it meant I looked a little crazy.
You learn to eventually stand firm on the whole ‘i’m not outta my mind, i’m in HIS’ because most times walking by faith can look reckless and appear wisdom-less but it’s only because we live in a world that needs to see the outcome before it can trust the instruction.. That’s what makes following God a thrilling little adventure; I trust that I hear Him and when he says, ‘TURN RIGHT’ - I trust that He aligned a kairos moment.
And truth be told, not everyone will have the spiritual capacity to interpret what’s unfolding correctly so if you are walking by faith and you feel called to step out and obey God in whatever way that looks like for you…here’s how I would prepare you to have peace within your heart even if people are looking at you sideways:
-many may not understand. you have to be so sure of what you believe God speaks to you before sharing it because people are very quick to plant doubt, projection, and their own fears. you have to refuse to come into agreement with someone else’s unbelief.
-you can’t control what people perceive. one person may judge you and think you are consumed with fear while another person may applaud you and think you are empowered but their perceptions should not be where you find your resolve anyways.
-silence the chatter. sometimes we can release something prematurely and it can unknowingly open the door for unnecessary pressure from people. silence is not absence…it’s protection. additionally, beware of chatter while you build. in Nehemiah’s time, the opposition didn’t always show up with weapons…it showed up with words. murmuring, distraction, and noise were used in attempts to pull attention off the assignment; not every voice deserves access while you’re building….some are just trying to get you to come down from the wall.
-be selective with who you share kingdom matters with. not every space is a safe space for what God is forming in you. Some things are only meant to be held among kingdom minds….those who can discern, not just analyze. in 1 Samuel 10, saul had just experienced something divine, but when questioned by his uncle, not everything was fully laid out. there is wisdom in not rushing things into conversations that don’t yet have the capacity to carry them. some assignments are protected in silence until God says otherwise.
praying for you!
